Military Veterans are Encouraged to Apply. -Thompson Palm Springs - Opening Early 2024 - is now recruiting an Executive Sous Chef to join the hotel's pre-opening team.Thompson Palm Springs is poised to become the desert's most exciting destination tailored for influential locals and sophisticated globetrotters alike. Situated at the heart of the city's iconic Palm Canyon Drive, the hotel will offer a collection of 168 bungalow-inspired guest rooms and suites coupled with our total event space of 8,000 square feet plus additional outdoor and unique spaces. Thompson Palm Springs will also house its own mainstay dining concept that will feed into the menus at two bespoke pools and accompanying lounges. A n impressive array of ground-level retail space spanning over 30,000-square-feet , guests will also have access to a state-of-the-art fitness center and a first-of-its-kind tasting room from HALL Napa Valley, with additional tenants to follow.

Job Description

The Executive Sous Chef will work directly with the Executive Chef to maintain and improve the culinary operations. The ideal Executive Sous Chef will monitor the daily functions of the culinary department, including providing support and guidance to the culinary team, ending in a positive guest experience.

Responsibilities include:

• Support senior leadership by developing and assuming key management responsibilities
  
  
  
  • Assume the role of liaison between all departments within the culinary division and all other hotel departments
    
  • Supervise departmental Sous Chefs performance and provide them council as to the preparation and cooking of various food items
    
  • Develop and implement creative menu items that adhere to Hyatt brand standards
    
  • Plan, coordinate & implement special events and holiday functions
    
  • Manage hourly kitchen employees through scheduling, payroll, training, coaching, evaluating and hiring
    
    
    
    • Lead and coach the team towards achieving exceptional guest service and employee satisfaction results
      
    • Monitor food production, ordering, cost, and quality and consistency on a daily basis ensuring financial performance and control
      
    • Ensure proper safety and sanitation of all kitchen facilities and equipment
      
    • Organize and facilitate departmental meetings, training and goals setting

      The pay range for this position is $ 75,000 to $90,000 . This is the pay ra ng e for this position that Thompson Palm Springs reasonably expects to pay . Decisions regarding individual salaries will be based on a number of factors including experience, and education.
      
      
      Qualifications:
      
      • Qualifications
        
        
        • In-depth skills and knowledge of all kitchen operations
          
        • Possess strong leadership, communication, organization and relationship skills
          
        • Experience with training, financial management and customer service
          
          
          
          • Proficient in general computer knowledge
            
          • A true desire to exceed guest expectations in a fast paced customer service environment
            
          • Capable of producing a consistent product in a timely manner
            
          • Culinary education and/or appropriate level of on the job training and hotel culinary experience
            
          • Geographic and schedule flexibility preferred
            
            
            Hyatt develops Executive Sous Chefs to progress into the role of Executive Chef through the trai ning of Banquets, Restaurants and Garde Manger. Executive Sous Chefs report directly to the Executive Chef.
