Job Description:
Desert Regional Medical Center is a 385 bed acute-care hospital
classified as a stroke receiving center and level 2 trauma facility
with an innovative, patient centered and evidence-based
Rehabilitation Services Department.
Our compassionate team provides a wide range of inpatient and
outpatient services, including acute care rehabilitation, joint
replacement & spinal surgery, neurosurgery, ICU, Telemetry,
step-down care, skilled nursing, as well as outpatient therapy,
hand and lymphedema clinics.
General Duties:
The Clinical/ Registered Nurse assumes principal responsibility for
the total nursing care, assessment, planning, implementation,
evaluation of each assigned patient and completing all
documentation as required. The clinical nurse initiates teaching
and educates the patient and family/or significant other to attain
optimal health. RN has access to all Patient Health Information for
treatment purposes only.
Department Specific Duties:
The Clinical/ Registered Nurse assumes the care of the antepartum,
intrapartum, postpartum patients or well newborn patients and may
perform the functions of circulating and recovery nurse for
patients undergoing cesarean sections and other peripartum surgical
procedures.
Department Specific Duties: Charge/Resource Nurse
If the Clinical Nurse serves as charge/resource nurse, the nurse is
responsible for the day-to-day shift operations in the department
which includes, but is not limited to:
Staffing the current and following shift assuring that staffing
ratios and acuities are being adhered to;
a) Entering staffing information for current shift into both
Optilink and on the staffing assignment sheets;
b) Rounding on unit and equipment (including One East) that
requires daily checks and ensures log sheets are complete;
c) Managing unit resources in a cost-effective manner;
d) Demonstrate an ability to respond and provide direction in
changing workload during crisis and emergency situations;
e) Interfaces with physicians and their offices regarding
scheduling procedures for the Perinatal Unit;
f) Carefully oversees and evaluates the dynamically changing scene
of the Labor and Delivery unit as well as provides oversight of the
antepartum and postpartum units;
g) Serves as a resource to staff and addresses issues of patient
care with staff and with physicians when appropriate; and
h) Helps to ensure regulatory compliance.
Department Specific Duties: Triage
If the Clinical Nurse serves as a triage nurse, those duties
include, but are not limited to, the following:
Performs medical screening exams on patients presenting to
L&D
Maintains the environment and supplies in the triage unit
Doing POC testing Quality Control after midnight daily
Completing all documentation as required
Qualifications
5 years experience required
Required:
Current CA Registered Nurse License
BSN
Current American Heart Association BLS certification
Current American Heart Association ACLS certification (OB ACLS
preferred) within six months of start date with the exception of
Versant or other intern nurses who must obtain certification within
six months from the end of training period
Current NRP certification within six months of start date with the
exception of Versant or other intern nurses who must obtain
certification within six months from the end of training period
Current EKG certification (excluding those nurses who exclusively
care for post-partum patients and newborns)
Initial Intermediate AWHONN Fetal Monitoring (excluding those
nurses who exclusively care for post-partum patients and newborns)
within six months from the end of training period
Advanced AWHONN Fetal Monitoring (excluding those nurses who
exclusively care for post-partum patients and newborns) within six
months of start date with the exception of intern nurses who must
obtain certification within six months from the end of training
period
Effective verbal and written skills to communicate with people on
all levels and able to maintain positive working relationships with
parents, families, and co-workers
Possess active listening skills
Compassionate and nonjudgmental care giver and advocate
Able to independently manage multiple priorities
Must comply with Annual Health Review
Pay range: $51.66- $79.40
Individual wages are determined based upon a number of factors
including, but not limited to, an individual's qualifications and
experience
