Job Description:
Oversee and provide appropriate medical services at Hazelden
Betty Ford, which may include consultation with outside physicians
as needed and referral, if appropriate. Act as a liaison between
nursing and the medical staff, and provide education, related to
medical issues, for patients while in treatment. Participate in the
on call duties with other members of the medical team as needed.
Provide supervision to Nurse Practitioners, Physician Assistant's
and allied health professionals.Perform admission medical history
and physical exams on all patients within 24 hours of
admissionPrescribe non-controlled medications and controlled
substancesSupervise patients regarding detoxification and other
medical issuesOrder and interpret lab testsCustomer relationsAssure
a safe and secure environment for patients, staff, guests and
visitorsRequired Qualifications:Doctorate (MD or DO)Current license
to practice medicine in appropriate stateBoard certified in
internal medicine, family practice, emergency room medicine, or
addiction medicine. DEA licenseDEA DATA waiver to prescribe
buprenorphine (within 30 days of hire)Practice in general medicine,
such as internal medicine, family practice, emergency room
medicine, addiction medicine.Minimum 2 years freedom from chemical
use problems in MN, OR. Minimum 5 yrs freedom from chemical use
problems in CA. (required by state law)Preferred
Qualifications:Experience in addiction medicine practiceExperience
in acute careBoard certification in ASAM (American Society of
