___________________________________________________________________JOB DESCRIPTIONPOSITION TITLE: HUMAN RESOURCES MANAGERREPORTS TO: GENERAL MANAGERFLSA CLASSIFICATION: EXEMPTPOSITION OVERVIEWThe Human Resources Manager is responsible for the health and safety of the workforce, development of a superior workforce, creating and developing an employee-oriented company culture that emphasizes quality, continuous improvement, key employee retention and development, and high performance.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESEnhances the organization by planning, implementing, and evaluating employee relations and human resources policies, programs, and practicesMaintains the work structure by updating job requirements and job descriptions for all positionsPrepares employees bi-weekly payroll compensation, vacation/sick accruals and timecardsSupports organization staff by establishing a recruiting, testing, and interviewing programEnsures planning, monitoring, and appraisal of employee work results by training managers to coach and discipline employees; scheduling management conferences with employees; hearing and resolving employee grievances; and counseling employees and supervisorsImplements employee benefits programs and informs employees of benefits by studying and assessing benefit needs and trends; recommending benefit programs to management; directing the processing of benefit claims; obtaining and evaluating benefit contract bidsEnsures legal compliance by monitoring and implementing applicable human resource federal and state requirements, conducting investigations and maintaining recordsRetains historical human resource records by designing a filing and retrieval system and keeping past and current recordsEstablishes the company wage and salary structure, pay policies, and oversees the variable pay systems within the company including bonuses and raisesLeads competitive market research to establish pay practices and pay bands that help to recruit and retain superior staffDirects the preparation of information requested or required for compliance with lawsServes as the primary contact with the company employment law attorney and outside government agenciesProtects the interests of employees and the company in accordance with company Human Resources policies and governmental laws and regulationsMinimizes riskEnsures staff is working within OSHA, club safety, state and federal guidelines for safe working conditionsFollows all rules and regulations established in Employee HandbookREQUIREMENTSMust have prior knowledge and experience completing payrollKnowledge and experience in employment law, compensation, organizational planning, recruitment, organization development, employee relations, safety, employee engagement, and employee developmentExcellent written and spoken communication skillsOutstanding interpersonal relationship building and employee coaching skillsDemonstrated ability to serve as a knowledgeable resource to the executive management team that provides overall company leadership and directionExcellent computer skills in a Microsoft Windows environmentMust have knowledge of Excel and skills in Human Resources Information Systems (HRIS)General knowledge of various employment laws and practices and experience working with a corporate employment law attorneyHigh attention to detailEDUCATION AND EXPERIENCEBachelor's degree from a four-year college or university or similar work experience required4+ years of experience in progressively responsible human resource roles3+ years of experience in payroll and employee relationsSHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP certification preferredPHYSICAL DEMANDSProlonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computerMust be able to lift up to 15 pounds at timesRepetitive movement; standing, walking, twisting, turning, bending, squatting, stooping, sittingThe intent of this position description is to provide a representative summary of the major duties and responsibilities performed by incumbents of this job.
