Situated at the heart of the city's iconic Palm Canyon Drive, the hotel will offer a collection of 168 bungalow-inspired guest rooms and suites coupled with our total event space of 8,000 square feet plu s addition a l outdoor and unique spaces. Thompson Palm Springs will also house its own mainstay dining concept that will feed into the menus at two bespoke pools and accompanying lounges. an impressive array of ground-level retail space spanning ove r 30,000-square-fe e t , guests will also have access t o a state-of-the-a r t fitness center and a first-of-its-kind tasting room from HALL Napa Valley, wit h addition a l tenants to follow.

Job Description

The Assistant Director of Engineering plays a vital role in maintaining and enhancing the physical infrastructure and systems . This position assists the Director of Engineering in overseeing the engineering and maintenance department, ensuring that the hotel's facilities are in optimal condition and that safety and environmental standards are met.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist in managing and leading the engineering and maintenance team, providing guidance, support, and mentorship to ensure exceptional performance and development.
  
  
  
  • Collaborate with the Director of Engineering to set departmental goals, objectives , and performance metrics.
    
  • Oversee the maintenance and repair of the hotel's physical assets, including HVAC systems, electrical systems, plumbing, and other equipment.
    
  • Conduct regular inspections to identify maintenance needs and ensure a high standard of cleanliness and safety.
    
  • Assist in planning, coordinating, and executing maintenance and renovation projects, ensuring minimal disruption to guest services.
    
  • Monitor project budgets, timelines, and quality to ensure projects are completed on schedule and within budget.
    
    
    
    • Implement and maintain preventive maintenance programs to extend the life of equipment and systems.
      
    • Collaborate with external vendors, contractors, and suppliers to procure materials and services for maintenance and repairs.
      
    • Respond promptly to emergencies and ensure the safety of guests and staff during critical situations.

      The pa y range is $75,000 to $85,000. This is the pay ra nge for this position that Thompson Palm Springs reasonably expect s to pa y . Decisions regarding individual salaries will be based on a number of factors including experience and education.
      
      
      Qualifications:
      
      • A minimum of 4 years' building maintenance experience is required , with hotel experience preferred.
        
      • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related field (preferred).
        
      • Strong leadership and team management skills.
        
      • Knowledge of building codes, regulations, and safety standards.
        
        
        
        • Excellent project management and organizational skills.
          
        • Ability to troubleshoot and solve complex technical issues.
          
        • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
